Make It Vegan: The Wild Wild Summer

In the Make It Vegan series, we select the most inspiring fashion shows of the season—this time, it’s Isabel Marant SS2025 from Paris Fashion Week—and take aesthetic inspiration to curate a selection of vegan items that fit the bill, both figuratively and literally.

Isabel Marant Spring-Summer 2025

Isabel Marant is credited with giving the world bohemian chic – the vibe and the clothes worn and radiated by the coolest girls at the dawn of the 21st century. With Marant, it’s always about showcasing a certain attitude – something that takes time to perfect, but once mastered, can’t be faked.

Which is somewhat ironic, given that several Marant pieces were among the most widely faked on the mass market over the past decade – think Bekett sneakers, Dicker boots, and Edris Bow sandals. But with Marant, it’s always about craftsmanship. The Spring/Summer 2025 collection takes this even further, with strong Native American references – turkey feather cloaks, soft moccasin boots, supple leather pieces, and butterflies (we’re betting on Heliconius and Nymphalidae species).

To be specific, this collection leans more towards the Wild West than the typical bohemian look – an homage to Annabella Lwin’s Bow Wow Wow, both in spirit and style, the band behind one of the most played tracks of the 1980s. The colour palette is restrained yet rich: sand, rust, black, and varying shades of mauve. Marant fans have come to expect the flapping volumes – fringes long and short, and shirt and skirt folds that only truly come alive in motion. Another signature Marant move – show the legs, not the bosom – was taken up a notch with transparent silhouettes that closed the show. In this case, some bosom was shown, but it felt cool and empowered, not sexualised. That’s Marant, everybody.

One final note: no heels, just flats. Long live women’s solidarity – Marant and Bekker serve as a rather stylish example.

While we await the day when all these pieces are available in vegan alternatives to leather and silk, here’s our curated selection from our favourite vegan fashion brands.
