Make It Vegan: House of Shapes

In the Make It Vegan series, we select the most inspiring fashion shows of the season—this time, it’s Thom Browne AW 2025/26 at New York Fashion Week—and while we regret that the looks are not made from animal-free materials, we take aesthetic inspiration from them to curate a selection of vegan items that fit the bill, both figuratively and literally.

Thom Browne AW25

2025 is all about birds. What began as a highlight of the SS25 season—both ready-to-wear as well as couture—reached a new octave on Thom Browne’s AW25 runway, where the next stage of freedom was unveiled. Rather than simply letting us soar and fly, Mr Browne inspired us to morph, expand, and occasionally squeeze into whatever form or shape we desire. If anyone can close a fashion week, it’s Mr Browne—who, season after season, has made it very much his ‘thing.’

Two ornithologists, over 2,000 origami cranes, and 64 looks come together as both a tribute to and a playful, somewhat nostalgic take on tweed, with some unexpected twists. And birds, of course. But the true marvel of the collection is the pattern-making: layering, draping, and likely, padding and boning. In short, it was all about shape. Stereometric shapes, evolving into volumes and dimensions that played with the human form in a distinctly late Renaissance manner, where the contrast of convex and concave forms became the ultimate showcase of craftsmanship (and connoisseurship).

And while we keep our fingers crossed—and eyes peeled—for these classic-yet-uncanny pieces to be crafted from animal-free materials, we’ve selected a few vegan fashion finds that echo these remarkable shapes and forms. You’re all welcome.
