This month, we curated 9 inspiring brands from Latin America and Latin Europe, each offering a unique perspective on sustainability, creativity, and conscious production rooted in their local culture.
In May 2025, we added the following brands to the Directory:
AMARA TULUM. (Mexico)
Category: swimwear
Slow fashion swimwear label founded in 2014, designed in Tulum and made by local artisans. Its minimalist, reversible pieces are crafted from ECONYL® – regenerated nylon recovered from oceans by the Healthy Seas project.
OHJA (Mexico)

Conscious Mexican brand with Venezuelan roots, redefining luxury through handcrafted, cruelty-free bags made from 100% organic vegan leather. All materials are made in Mexico, and each piece is carefully created by local artisans using durable, breathable fabrics and sustainable processes. Celebrating Latin American design, Ohja champions slow fashion, mindful consumption, and a kinder future for the planet.
KARUNA (Costa Rica)

Karuna is a Costa Rican slow fashion brand by designer Irene Farjardo, creating versatile, hand-sewn yoga, leisure, and festival wear that empower women and honor life’s natural cycles. Made locally by Irene and four seamstresses in Baru, each piece supports Costa Rican families. Using eco-friendly beech tree pulp fabric, Karuna offers soft, breathable, and durable clothing designed for comfort and low-impact living.
CLANDESTINA (Spain)

Clandestina is a sustainable footwear brand committed to revolutionizing fashion through ethical, ecological, and local production. Their shoes use natural raw materials and recycled components—like soles made from recycled waste materials (like rice husks)—combined with recycled polyester and recycled PU. Light, comfortable, and designed for everyday wear, their footwear comes in 100% recyclable and reusable packaging, reflecting their dedication to originality, quality, and respect for nature.
ORGANIQUE STUDIO (Portugal)

Sustainable clothing brand dedicated to combining conscious design with everyday functionality. Their garments are made in Portugal using GOTS-certified organic cotton and TENCEL™ Lyocell—two fabrics known for their breathability, durability, and low environmental impact. Committed to reducing waste across the entire production process, the brand also uses plastic-free, recyclable packaging and partners with responsible factories to ensure fair and ethical labor practices.
SHOEVENIR (Portugal)

Shoevenir crafts travel-inspired sneakers and sandals that turn memories into wearable stories. Each model is designed in collaboration with local artists, capturing the essence of a specific place through custom colorways and cork insole illustrations. Made in Portugal, their shoes combine thoughtful design with ethical production, using materials like 100% recyclable synthetic rubber, vegan suede, vegan leather, recycled cork, and recycled polyester.
NOUS ÉTIUDIONS (Argentina)

Genderless fashion brand from Argentina, led by designer Romina Cardillo, who champions transparency and consistency over buzzwords like “sustainable.” Rooted in veganism and ethics, the brand is driven by a philosophy of constant learning, with each collection exploring innovative solutions to fashion’s environmental challenges. Known for its bold silhouettes and experimental use of materials, Nous Etudions partners with local companies like TEXCOM to create textiles from recycled plastic bottles and works with Pyltex for water-based, chemical-free dyes1.
NANA DUDU (Brazil)

Brazilian handbag brand redefining the role of plastic in fashion through design, technology, and purpose. Founded by siblings Ana Flávia and Eduardo Kawasoko, the brand uses 3D printing with flexible TPU to craft minimalist bags with less than 1% manufacturing waste. Each bag’s environmental impact is offset by recycling 100 times its weight in plastic through a partnership with EuReciclo, supporting recycling cooperatives across Brazil. Focused on innovation, NANA DUDU transforms a typically disposable material into durable, artistic pieces. The brand also contributes to environmental and animal causes by donating a portion of each sale via the Pólen platform to NGOs like AMPARA Animal and Verde Mar Project2.
URBAN FLOWERS (Brazil)

Urban Flowers is a vegan Brazilian brand creating made-to-order shoes and accessories using repurposed materials and powered entirely by solar energy. Certified Zero Waste, the brand diverts over 98% of its waste from landfills. With PETA certification, plastic-free packaging, and a reverse logistics system, Urban Flowers champions circular fashion and social impact through local partnerships and community initiatives.

Although we’ve added 9 inspiring new brands to our Directory this month, we’re also saying goodbye to 9 others that have either closed down or become inactive:

Moreover, the brand Shér & Seo was rebranded to Kind Rebel®, so we also adjusted Directory entries accordingly.
While some brands close their chapters, their contributions to vegan and sustainable fashion continue to inspire. We remain committed to documenting this evolving landscape and supporting the movement every step of the way.
