In the Make It Vegan series, we select the most inspiring fashion shows of the season—this time, it’s Jacquemus SS2025 at Paris Fashion Week Men’s—and while we regret that the looks are not made from animal-free materials, we take aesthetic inspiration from them to curate a selection of vegan items that fit the bill, both figuratively and literally.
Jacquemus Spring-Summer 2025
Simon Porte Jacquemus has a rather uncanny fashion sense—sharp, witty, and undeniably captivating. If anyone can make evening wear look cool (as in straight-from-the-party-to-the-board-meeting cool) and casual wear appear effortlessly sophisticated (it’s a French thing, after all), it’s him.
The spring-summer 2025 collection is as signature as it is transitional for the self-taught French designer, who launched his own label at 19 in 2009 with just €1,500 and, by 2023, was worth an estimated €270–€280 million—thanks to talent, charisma (“My kind of naivety was helping me”), and sheer perseverance (“When I started, I only had one rule (…) the next show needs to be more visible”). Everyone wants a piece of this story.
The colour palette was pared back to black and white, with the occasional pop of beige and a single red gown. The silhouettes, however, were anything but minimal. While cocoon coats, circle skirts, and hourglass shapes paid homage to 1950s haute couture (researching Poiret’s pre-war tropical extravaganzas and Chanel’s and Dior’s ventures into America paid off), blazers and jackets—from pilot jackets to double-breasted blazers—offered a contemporary and distinctly commercial edge.
The sleeves were the true stars of the show, though. Historical classics—gigot, dropped gigot, and full-blown innocence—were given a clean, if not futuristic, remake. That’s Jacquemus for you.
While we (eagerly) wait for Simon Porte Jacquemus to venture into innovative plant-based materials, we’ve curated a selection of vegan fashion pieces that take classic black and white to the next level.
You’re all welcome.
