This August, we’re bringing an unprecedented event to the heart of Warsaw: an open day showcasing the work of three pioneering Polish material innovators.
From chocolate-based leather alternatives and locally produced hemp textiles to natural latex, rose-petal material, and plant-based materials used in footwear and accessories, the event offers a rare opportunity to experience these materials up close, meet the people behind them, and explore the different directions in which material innovation is taking fashion.
The programme will also feature a series of power speeches and a panel discussion:
Innovation, Craftsmanship and Sustainability – From Idea to Scale
Together with our speakers, we’ll trace the journey of new materials from initial idea and experimentation to real-world application and scale — exploring the breakthroughs, setbacks and barriers along the way. Finally, we’ll ask: what comes next? How can fashion balance growth with sustainability — and what role can new materials play in getting us there?

Power speeches, patrons & special guest
The event is held under the patronage of MSKPU, our Main Patron, and Fashion Revolution Poland, our Honorary Patron. We’re also joined by Play Sustain as our Special Guest.
The programme will also feature a series of power speeches, bringing together perspectives from fashion education, material innovation, responsible design and the development of new materials:
11:45–12:00 — Dr Mateusz Pietryka, MSKPU
Sociologist, writer and lecturer at MSKPU, Vizja University and the University of Warsaw. Works with the Lipiński Foundation. Author of Calculated Death: The US Military Drone Programme and Its Social Consequences for Liberal Democracies.
12:00–12:10 — Barbara Wybacz, Play Sustain
Creative and PR Manager at the Play Sustain Foundation and Head of Designers Play Sustain. A cultural studies specialist with over 25 years of experience in Poland’s cultural sector, working across art, design, business, and cultural and natural heritage.
12:10–12:20 — Marta Gos, Nutico™
Creative Director and Head of Marketing at Nutico™. A creative strategy and fashion innovation consultant with over 15 years’ experience in implementing and scaling innovation in Poland and internationally.
12:20–12:30 — Maciej Plata, Kombinat Konopny
Head of Sales & Product Development at Kombinat Konopny, combining sales, product development and the exploration of new applications for hemp in textiles.
12:30–12:40 — Marta Sieradzka, Estimon & MSKPU
Founder of Estimon and a specialist in plant-based materials. Marta has worked with next-generation materials for almost 10 years and is also a lecturer in Materials Science at MSKPU.

12:45–13:15 — Innovation, Craftsmanship and Circularity – How Close Is Fashion to Being Truly Sustainable?
We’ll trace the journey of new materials from the initial idea and experimentation to real-world application and scale — looking at the breakthroughs, challenges and barriers along the way. And finally, we’ll ask: what comes next? How can fashion balance growth with sustainability, and what role can new materials play in getting us there?

Dr Magdalena Płonka
Designer, researcher, writer, award-winning entrepreneur and speaker at international industry conferences. Founder and CEO of MSKPU and Responsible Fashion Awards. An internationally recognised expert in fashion education, responsible fashion and management. Author of Ethics in Fashion – CSR in the Clothing Industry, which introduced CSR to the Polish fashion industry.
Wioletta Wiertel
CMO and co-owner of Bohema Clothing.
Marta Gos
Creative Director and Head of Marketing at Nutico™ and a creative strategy and fashion innovation consultant with over 15 years’ experience.
Maciej Plata
Head of Sales & Product Development at Kombinat Konopny. His work combines sales, product development and exploring new applications for hemp in textiles, spanning materials, technology, people and partnerships.
